What is Vision Therapy?  Vision therapy or VT is eye training to improve or enhance a patient's visual skills and performance.

What are Visual Skills?
    There are two components of visual skills. The first one is your eyes physical abilities. These include: 
       Acuity:  Ability to see clearly at both far and near.
        Attention: Ability to stay on task.
        Binocularity: Aiming and using the two eyes together.
        Depth Perception: Ability to judge distances of objects and see 3D.
        Fixation: Ability to quickly move your eyes from one spot to another.
        Focusing: Keeping images clear at both far and near.
        Peripheral Vision:  Ability to view and interpret your surroundings.
        Tracking: Ability to follow moving objects.
   
The second is your visual perceptual skill or ability to process information.  These include:
        Form Perception:  Ability to discriminate likenesses and differences, size-color.
        Hand Eye Coordination: Ability to move your hand as directed by your eyes.
        Spatial Ability: Ability to determine right and left.
        Visual Memory:  Ability to remember what you do see.
        Visualization:  Ability to make mental images in your mind.

     Dr. Roger Trudell is a fellow in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.  He has worked with hundreds of patients with crossed eyes, lazy eyes, focusing problems, convergence issues, eye tracking and reading problems.  Having two children, he understands the parent aspect of child development.
     Theresa Winter
has been doing vision therapy since 2003. Prior to this, Theresa worked as a counselor
for several years and studied psychology.  She has worked in several offices as a vision therapist giving her various methods and experience in this field.  She currently works as a vision therapist for three offices in Boulder County.

                1.  The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) is an organization of optometrists who are certified in vision training and visual development.  Dr. Trudell is a fellow which required over 2000 hours of therapy time, a written test, an oral review with a panel, and more.
